Christmas Fitness Tips

 

We’re only a few days away from Christmas. For some people, this festive season can also be one of the most stressful.
So, here are some tips to survive the day that will help you feel like you had a break, rather than feeling in desperate need of one.

1) Don’t sit down all day!
Maximize your day. Be more active and spend time outdoors with your friends & family with some fun cold weather activities.

2) Go easy on the booze!
I know it’s the holidays but be mindful of the liquid calories! And make sure you stay hydrated with plenty of water.

3) Keep a sense of humor when things don’t go your way. ‘Tis the season to be jolly’ after all.

4) Eat fruits rather than indulge on sweet treats!

5) Think before you eat that entire plate.
You can enjoy the flavor of the food without overdoing it.

6) Keep your mind & body active instead of lounging in front of the TV.

7) And most importantly, be happy and spend more quality time with your family, friends and loved ones.

Keep moving and enjoy the holiday bustle!

 

This time of year is SOOOO jam-packed with activities! It can leave us feeling overwhelmed and with little or no outlet to bring us back to normal.
This is why exercise is so wonderful! When you’re stressed about grabbing all the perfect gifts or picking up last minute food for a party, fitting in a workout as soon as possible can help you get grounded and back to feeling like yourself.
But that can be easier said than done.
Oops! There went that 30-minute spin class while you were watching your niece’s holiday play. Darn!
But don’t be tough on yourself!
You’re human, and until cloning becomes a little more popular, you have to settle for only being one person. You’re working with a 24-hour day like the rest of us!
Be compassionate if you miss a workout. You don’t have to aim for perfection.
Remember the 80/20 rule? That’s truly good enough. Fit in your workouts when you can—and really crank it out when you do. But when the schedule is tight, make sure you stay hydrated and move your body, even just ten minutes a day. Stretches and yoga are easy to fit in around your activities without messing up your makeup or hair. Or, before you jump in the shower in the morning, do some stretching, jogging in place, and jumping jacks.
Hydration and movement can help you eliminate stress and feel ready to tackle your to do list.
The holidays are about finding the joy. Don’t add to your stress by being hard on yourself.

How To Overcome Emotional Eating: Strategies to stay healthy, happy, and hot for the holidays!

And so it begins… another holiday season I know  there are aspects of the holidays that stress you to the max. So let’s remember to be grateful and stay with the 80/20 rule strategy for maintaining your motivation and curbing emotional eating!
Christmas shopping, holiday parties, traffic, social obligations, reuniting with relatives, traveling and food conflicts are just a few of the obvious reasons why we tend to stress out this time of the year.
Cut yourself some slack and relax!
I’m here to help and guide you on how to spend this holiday stress-free! So that you won’t end up relying on food you’re not supposed to eat – a.k.a. your unhealthy comfort food!
Here are 5 simple tips on how to enjoy your holiday without compromising your diet.
  1. Set priorities – weigh the things you need to get done based on priority. Some things can be done after the holidays!
  2. Plan ahead – anticipate what the coming weeks will look like so you can allot time for yourself to eat a healthy meal or exercise.
  3. Lighten the load – delegate tasks! You don’t have to do it alone!
  4. Don’t go hungry – this might lead you to poor food choice. Always pack healthy snacks.
  5. Make sleep a priority – in order for you to function properly, get at least 7-8 hours of sleep! You’re more able to manage daily activities efficiently when you are well rested.

The answer to “What’s my purpose?”

Do you keep your promises?

I’m guessing you’re a kind and trustworthy person , and that when you make a promise to someone, you keep it!
But I have to ask… do you keep the promises you make to yourself?
Have you told yourself one too many times, “I am NOT going to eat between meals,” or “I am definitely going to start getting up early to squeeze in a workout,” and then totally let yourself down?
No judgment, I’ve done it too in the past, but it saddens me that so many women value themselves less than they value other people.
And it’s the worst around the holidays! Too many party invites. A little whipped cream in your latte, a plate of cookies at the office, nibbling on candy canes, and sipping mulled wine and eggnog. Mouth-watering as that may be, you don’t want to be permanently confined to baggy pants for the next month because you didn’t keep your promises to yourself!
It’s so tempting to give up this time of year and leave the healthy diet or weight loss for the New Year’s resolution, but that’s not your style. When you start something, you stick with it, at least in every other area of your life and this should be different!
And I know you can do it! Let’s finish the year strong!
You want to rock that holiday outfit, right? You want to be confident, not carb-overloaded. You want to start LIVING as the best version of yourself. The one who feels like a million bucks, looks like a million bucks and (hey why not) is on her way to maybe manifesting a million bucks!
So remember the promise you made to yourself this year. Healthy and strong. Fit and focused. You got this!
Treats are exactly that: treats. That means that having only one makes it special, so savor it! I promise, you’ll thank yourself in a couple weeks when you can still slip on your favorite cocktail dress.

How to enjoy eating out and not wreck your diet!

Weekends can equal girls’ night, guys’ night or date night.
And more often than not, we realized that it’s a surefire way to completely sabotage our diet, but it doesn’t have to be.
I want to make sure you are armed with the right information on how to eat healthier at restaurants or parties to maintain your diet or even lose weight!
Here are some reminders you can use to go out and enjoy your favorite foods without sabotaging your weight loss.
  • Look at menus online before you go to find out what’s available; think about what you might order and see which meals you can order customized to fit your diet.
  • Stay away from appetizers described as crispy, creamy, or rich — those are all red flags.
  • Don’t forget about liquid calories (they add up quickly!)
  • Beware of sneaky calories on salads & veggies
  • Opt for light entrees & take note of portion sizes, even take half of your entrée to go if it’s too big of a portion. (Boom lunch tomorrow)
  • Don’t let your sweet tooth be your downfall!
  • Focus on quality over quantity – seek quality food experience rather than large portions.
