I hope you’re having a fabulous start to the new year.

Recently, I was talking with a friend about how she doesn’t like to set resolutions. I thought this was interesting because my view is completely opposite of hers. I love the idea of a new beginning. But, still, I was interested to hear why she’s opposed.

“Resolutions add pressure,” she explained. “My larger goal is to be a better version of myself. And my smaller goals are to make these changes daily by adding consciousness to the decisions that I make.”

This, , I find to be an excellent strategy. Of course, I’ll still take that vow to commitment myself to something new each year but I am also a strong supporter of breaking up your goals into measurable actions. A perfect example of this is staying consistent in your health and fitness routine.

I’m going to leave you with three small goals that may not seem like much but, trust me, if you stay consistent with them you will see results:

1.) Move for a minimum of 30 minutes each day – You can break this up into 3 10-minute increments if you need to. If you’re feeling ambitious on a certain day, then by all means exceed this goal. But commit to yourself (and add it to your calendar if you need to) that you will move for a minimum of 30-minutes per day.

2.) Strive for a 90% process-free diet. None of us are perfect and I’m not asking you to commit to perfection but I want you to be as perfectly imperfect as possible. By this, I mean set your goals to allow for a splurge or two. Don’t worry, you’ll still see results. Try to stick to the basics of lean proteins, fruits and vegetables. Get into this routine and you’re on your way to losing those last 10 pounds once and for all.

3.) I’ve said it before and I will say it again – HYDRATE. I can’t emphasize this point enough. Drink lots of water. There are so many beautiful benefits to staying hydrated like healthy hair, skin and nails, a curbed appetite and just better health overall.

There you have it. The simplest solution to weight loss and it didn’t cost you a dime.
