How’s your December going? I know that it can be difficult to stick to your health and fitness goals during the holidays and I hope that the tips that I shared with you last week have been helping.

I’d also LOVE to hear of any other tips that you might have to share. We have an eager community of people just like you that would love to hear what’s working.

With the New Year upon us, I think it’s important to talk about goal-setting. It’s easy to set a resolution. You think of what you want and where you would like to be in a certain time-frame and that’s it – that’s your goal. But is it really that simple? The challenges come in your consistency and your commitment to that goal. With that in mind, I’m going to share you with three things you can do to make sure that 2017 is YOUR YEAR. Whether your goal is related to your health, finances, or even relationships, these tips will help to keep you on track to becoming the best version of yourself that you could possibly be.

1.) Be visual. I know I’ve said this before but I can’t stress how important it is to have a clear vision of where you are today and where you want to be. Try a vision board, for step by step. I love to get together with my girlfriends, pour some wine and get creative as a group. You can make this a yearly tradition. But, if you’re not really the cut-and-paste type, there’s an app for that! I like the Hay House app that is free and easy-to-use.

2.) Set reminders. You need to treat your goal like you would an appointment. If you had a meeting scheduled with your CEO, would you cancel it because you’re tired or if your friend flew into town a day early? No, the small stuff can wait. Your goal needs to be as important as your job, your child, your spouse. Set reminders for your workouts and to make sure you are logging in your food intake. If finances are your goal, set reminders for your bills, to check your credit, to ensure the correct amount of money is being transferred to your savings account. Keep on track of your goals and break it down into smaller goals. I always tell my clients to have an ideal goal and then a monthly target when it comes to their weight loss.

3.) Partner up. Accountability is everything. Find a friend or a coworker that is striving toward something similar and hold each other accountable. It’s great to have someone checking in on you and your progress and also someone cheering you on. Studies show that, in weight loss, the results for long-term results are always higher in pairs.

Okay, Janet. There’s a little motivation to help you set the right goals for 2017 and tips to keep you on track.
